The Future of Education

If you follow recent news, you will be amazed how much media focus on an emerging technology: AI - Artificial Intelligence.

The development of AI is both exciting and alarming. It is exciting because AI machine will be able to free human from heavy labor and repetitive work. However, it also means that our current knowledge based education system will fail our young generation for the future world. By prediction, robots will replace 800 million jobs by 2030 (link). Like Jack Ma (CEO of Alibaba) said in the World Economic Forum 2018,

"If we do not change the way we teach, 30 years later we will be in trouble."

This is one of the major reasons that Jmath believes it is time to change why we teach mathematics, how we teach mathematics, what we teach mathematics. Only when we shift our education from exam orientated and knowledge based, to skills focused and real life application related, we will at a better position preparing our younger generation to their future life.
